It seemed like it was bound to happen with his lack of playing time the past few games, but Sophomore PG LaVonte Dority has decided to transfer from the USF basketball team.
Dority averaged 3.0 PTS/1.8 AST/1.1 REB a game this season and started the first seven games of the season while Anthony Collins was on the bench due injuries. As soon as Collins was cleared to play however, Dority's minutes were slashed each game thereafter, and only managed three minutes of playing time the last two games against VCU and Kansas.
Greg Auman has a video up from Coach Heath's press conference yesterday after the Bulls' victory over Florida A&M, and it just looks like Dority wants the opportunity to play which I can't blame him.
With only two point guards on the roster now, Blake Nash will now have to primarily be used instead of playing a majority of his minutes at the off guard. New walk-on Mike McCloskey can also run the point, but the only time we will see McCloskey is during Human Victory Cigar time.
Dority will have two and a half years of eligibility if he is able to find a new school before the start of the new semester. We wish LaVonte the best of luck wherever he lands.
