Stampeding Through The USF Football Roster: #98 DE Cody Sanfratello

Presswire

Yesterday we met a player expected to contribute in a big way on the defensive line. Tomorrow we'll meet one of the best defensive ends USF has ever seen, and they've had plenty of good ones. Today, though, let's meet a newcomer whose biggest contribution may end up being on the practice field.

#98 DE Cody Sanfratello
Redshirt Freshman, 6'3", 260 lbs.

Stats In 2011: Cody took his redshirt last season to grow into a defensive lineman.

Current Spot On Depth Chart: Sanfratello is not listed on the spring two-deep depth chart.

How Did He Get To USF? Cody played at Jensen Beach High School, where he lined up as a linebacker and offensive lineman, and occasionally carried the ball. He recorded 16 tackles his senior year, and also ran three times for 10 yards, scoring a touchdown against Port St. Lucie. In addition to football, Cody lettered in weightlifting and track and field before getting a look in an Under Armour combine and walking on to the USF football team last fall.

Recruiting Rankings: Sanfratello did not receive a ranking from Rivals, Scout, or 247.

Projected Playing Time In 2012: While Cody has good size for a defensive end, he has a lot of very talented players ahead of him on the depth chart, so we're not likely to see him on the field this season. His biggest contribution will be on the scout team, but he may slip into a blowout.
