Today we meet the smallest person on the football team and our first wide receiver.

#87 WR Derrick Hopkins
Redshirt Junior, 5'5", 160 lbs.

Stats In 2011: Derrick played in five games last season, mostly once the game was in hand. Hopkins caught 4 balls for 34 yards last year, all against Florida A&M

Current Spot On Depth Chart: Derrick is listed as the 3rd string slot receiver on the post-spring depth chart behind Victor Marc and Terrence Mitchell.

How did he come to USF: Derrick came to USF from Miami Monsignor Pace HS, where he played alongside fellow Bulls Kayvon Webster and Sterling Griffin. Derrick chose USF over offers from Auburn, Iowa State, and Kansas State.

Recruiting Rankings: Derrick was listed as a 2-star recruit by both Rivals and Scout.

Projected Playing Time In 2012: Its going to be really difficult for Derrick to find significant playing time out there. With Victor and Terrence primed to take a majority of the snaps at the slot, Derrick will once again be relegated to mop up and special teams duty. While he won't see a ton of time on the field, Hopkins is one of USF's biggest contributors on the track team, winning the 60 and 200 meter dash at the Big East Indoor Track Championships along with winning the 100 meter dash in the Outdoor Track Championships in 2011.
