Stampeding Through The Roster: #39 DB Tyler Robb

Presswire

Our next player has already won one huge battle in his life, so making his way up from the bottom rungs of being a walk-on should be pretty easy by comparison.

#39 DB Tyler Robb
Redshirt Freshman, 5'9" 196 lbs.

Stats in 2011: Tyler redshirted last season.

Current Spot on Depth Chart: Robb was not listed on the post-spring two-deep.

How did he come to USF: Tyler played linebacker at Tampa Catholic High School and went to the Class 2B state championship game in 2009 with the Crusaders. (Greg Auman found his highlight video on YouTube last fall when he joined the USF team.) But long before that, as an infant, Tyler overcame acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a disease that didn't give Tyler much more than a 50-50 chance of survival at the time. Fortunately Tyler got through it fairly quickly, and his ALL has been in remission ever since.

Recruiting Rankings: Robb was not rated by Rivals or Scout.

Projected Playing Time for 2012: If there's a more inspirational story on USF's football team, I'd like to know what it is. Even if Robb doesn't play a single down this season, he's already a huge success. And if College Gameday ever showed up in Tampa, he has to be the odds-on favorite to be the subject of the Tom Rinaldi tinkling piano feature.
