Stampeding Through The Roster: #44 LB Antoine Pozniak

Presswire

Our next player may get a shot at playing with Skip Holtz putting out the call for players to step up at his position.

#44 LB Antoine Pozniak
Redshirt Freshman, 6'2", 229 lbs.

Stats in 2011: None. Pozniak enrolled early in the spring of 2011 and even tried out defensive end for a little while, but ultimately took his redshirt year.

Current Position On Depth Chart: Was not listed on the post-spring two-deep depth chart.

How Did He Come To USF? Antoine is from Jersey City, New Jersey, and played high school and prep school football at three different institutions. He spent his first three years of high school at Wallkill Valley in Hamburg, New Jersey. Then he went to a prep school (Bishop Grimes outside of Syracuse) for his senior year, and finally spent another year at a military academy in Oak Ridge, North Carolina. He was an all-state linebacker at Bishop Grimes, racking up 154 tackles and also rushing for three touchdowns on offense.

Recruiting Rankings: As part of USF's 2011 recruiting class, Pozniak received two stars from Scout and Rivals, while 247 gave him three stars.

Projected Playing Time In 2012: Skip Holtz mentioned that he's looking for some depth at linebacker, so Pozniak has a chance to play his way into an occasional role on defense. If not, though, he may still get some action on special teams. He's only a redshirt freshman, so there's still some time for development.
