USF Women's Soccer Update: Three Big East Games, But One Goal

USF’s women’s soccer headed to New Jersey this weekend in hopes of improving their 0-0-1 Big East record, however they came back with one win & one loss. They head into this weekend with a 1-1-1 record and will host Cincinnati on Friday night.

USF’s women’s soccer headed to New Jersey this weekend in hopes of improving their 0-0-1 Big East record, however I’m not sure the games went according to plan. In the two games they played this weekend, they managed to shoot the ball 20 times, but 198 minutes of play resulted in one measly goal. Ouch, that’s rough. On the bright side, USF only gave up one goal this weekend and split the two road matches.

It all started in Piscataway, N.J. on Friday, when the Bulls faced off with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. After a scoreless 90 minutes and two periods of overtime the Bulls lost 1-0. It was a disappointing loss for the Bulls, especially after missing on five shots on goal in the first half. In the 108th minute of the game, Rutgers capitalized on a one-on-one situation with USF’s goalie Christiane Endler.

The Bulls stayed in Jersey and traveled to South Orange, N.J. to take on Seton Hall on Sunday. USF outshot Seton Hall 11-7, which ultimately paid off for the Bulls. In the 65th minute, Passariello scored her fifth goal of the season. That one goal & a hard working defense were all the Bulls needed to secure their first Big East result of the season.

The Bulls have had a pretty mediocre start to their Big East schedule. Three games, one goal. 308 minutes of soccer, ONE GOAL.

Drawing board, anyone? This season is just not going to go well if we aren't putting soccer balls in the net. USF returns home to Corbett Stadium this week looking to improve on their 1-1-1 Big East record. Catch them in action Friday night when they host Cincinnati at 7:30pm.
