This Week In Baseball: USF Sweeps Florida A&M In Weekend Series, Returns To .500

USF baseball made it back to the .500 mark on the season after dominating the overmatched Florida A&M Rattlers in a weekend series. They scored 11 runs in each of the three games, pitched well, and found their offensive stride as conference play approaches.

Friday's 11-3 win featured a dominant pitching performance from Nick Gonzalez, who struck out five and gave up just two hits and one earned run over eight innings. Alex Mendez and James Ramsay each drove in three runs, while Levi Borders and Kyle Teaf each scored twice.

Saturday's win supported another strong pitching line, this time from Joey Lovecchio. The senior went seven innings and allowed only four hits and one run. On offense, Chris Norton hit a three-run homer and Kyle Copack added a two-run shot. Nik Alfonso also drove in two runs for the Bulls.

The Bulls capped off the sweep with an 11-4 win on Sunday. Nolan Thomas struck out five and allowed two runs on three hits in four innings of work. Lawrence Pardo, Adrian Puig, and Joe Adel pitched four innings of scoreless relief, and Jordan Strittmatter mopped up in the ninth. Ramsay hit a two-run home run, while Mendez, Austin Leuck, and Copack each drove in two.

With the Rattlers at 1-20 on the season and clocking in at #276 in the college baseball RPI, this was a series the Bulls should have dominated, and they did just that. USF will travel to Daytona on Tuesday to face Bethune Cookman at 6:00pm before beginning their final Big East baseball schedule this weekend against Cincinnati.
