USF Men's Basketball vs. Rutgers: AAC Tournament Preview/GameThread

Is the third time the charm for USF against Rutgers?

We thought we were finally done with Rutgers, but USF's loss to Temple pushed the Bulls into last place in the conference, and into, sigh, another last date with Rutgers. USF and Rutgers tip off the AAC Tournament at 7pm tonight in Memphis. Why won't they just leave already?

Rutgers!

RUTGERS!!!!

Each team is coming off a loss, USF to Temple, and Rutgers to Cincinnati. Rutgers (11-20, 4-14 in the AAC) won both games against USF (12-19, 3-15) this season, but they played out pretty differently.

In the first game, at the Sun Dome, Rutgers opened a double-digit lead early, but USF had a furious run to cut the lead to a single point at halftime. The game was back and forth in the second half, until Rutgers pulled away with six minutes to go, winning 79-69.

The second game, in New Jersey, was close early, but USF had another mid-game run and opened a 50-35 lead early in the second half. Rutgers chipped away at the lead, and Victor Rudd's lay-up attempt with two seconds left rimmed out, and the Bulls lost 74-73.

The Bulls will have to find an answer to Kadeem Jack, who scored 51 points over the two previous meetings.
