#63 OL Michael Smith
Redshirt Sophomore, 6'3", 310 lbs.
2015 Stats: Smith appeared in only one game last year. He got some late reps in the 65-27 shellacking of Cincinnati.
Position on Depth Chart: Michael is listed as the backup to Cameron Ruff at left guard.
How He Came To USF: Smith played for one of the best high school football teams in the country at Miami's Central High School. They went to the state championship game all four years Smith was there, winning it three times. Michael was named to the Class 6A all-state second team in 2013, his senior year. He joined USF's 2014 recruiting class, turning down an offer from Arkansas to sign with the Bulls.
Recruiting Rankings: 247, Scout, ESPN, and Rivals all gave Smith three stars.
Projected Playing Time: Smith doesn't have much of a body of work so far, so it's hard to know if he will be ready for regular playing time. The coaching staff seems high on their younger offensive linemen in general, though. If that confidence extends to Smith, he'll get his turns like the other backups.
Follow Him On... Michael is on Twitter at @Rocboy_53. We don't think he's on Instagram, but there are like a zillion Michael Smiths on there so who knows.
