Josh Newberg of Bulls247.com originally reported Calloway won't return this year, and today Joey Knight confirmed that former 4-star recruit and prized prospect that played for USF in 2013 and '14 isn't a go for this season.
DL Derrick Calloway will not be with @USFFootball in 2016, we've learned.
— Joey Knight (@TBTimes_Bulls) August 2, 2016
Calloway had been attending junior college classes in an effort to return to the Bulls for 2016.
Calloway played in six games for the Bulls in 2013, but showed breakout progress during the 2014 campaign. He played in all 12 games and started the last three. He finished the year 30 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble.
Having Derrick would have been a nice bonus for a defensive line that returns Deadrin Senat, Kevin Bronson and Bruce Hector, but he'd still be able to play for USF (or any other school) in 2017 if eligible academically.
