Career profile of USF wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

NCAA Football: Central Florida at South Florida Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

#11 WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling - Senior, 6’5”, 205 lbs.

2016 Stats: In his first season on the field for USF, Valdes-Scantling started all 13 games for the Bulls. He caught 22 passes for 415 yards and scored five touchdowns, including a 51-yarder against Towson and a 77-yarder to open the game against SMU. Marquez carried twice for four yards, but an unsung part of his game was how well he blocked downfield on running plays. There are plenty of big runs from Quinton Flowers and Marlon Mack where MVS is 50 yards up the field helping them reach the end zone.

2015 Stats: None. Valdes-Scantling sat out the season after transferring from NC State. However, he did win USF's Scout Team Award.

How He Came To USF: Valdes-Scantling played two years at NC State, catching a total of 44 passes for 536 yards and a touchdown, an incredible catch against Presbyterian with a defender hanging off him. Before that, he played at Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, where he rolled up 1400 yards and 20 TDs on 78 catches in his last two years. He and Rodney Adams both came out of Lakewood in the recruiting class of 2013.

Recruiting Rankings: Valdes-Scantling was a three-star prospect according to 247, Rivals, and ESPN. Scout gave him two stars.
