DB McArthur Burnett
5’11, 195 pounds
Coffeyville C.C.
Hometown: Pahokee, FL
Other Notable Offers as a Juco Prospect: Hawaii, Toledo, Chattanooga, South Alabama
Rated as a three-star high school prospect by Rivals and 247 (.8709 Composite Score) in 2016, Burnett was originally committed to Miami before settling on UF.
In Gainesville, the Muck City product redshirted his freshman season before seeing limited action in 2017. More notable than anything he did on the field that season was being caught on camera flipping off Tennessee fans in a back and forth following the Gators’ 26-20 last-minute hail mary win over the Vols.
He announced his decision to transfer from UF this past April, settling on Coffeyville C.C. in Kansas where he recorded 19 tackles, four interceptions and two pick-sixes. (One of his interceptions came against Independence C.C., so we’ll most likely be seeing him spark a Jason Brown profanity laced tirade in next season’s Last Chance U.)
Once again, Steeg offered his quick assessment of Burnett:
-Great speed, rarely got beat over the top
-Ball hawk that always seems to be causing turnovers and going after the ball
-Good zone awareness
-Needs work on route recognition
-Run support so-so
-Scarily similar to Deatrick Nichols, but faster
Burnett is he second Kansas Juco DB that USF has aggressively targeted this cycle. Three-star Hutchinson C.C. and Tampa native Kelvin Clemmons is the other one.
Is time to tweet at croots?
