The University of South Florida announced today that Deputy Director for External Operations Scott Kull will become the interim Athletic Director after the recent departure of Mark Harlan, who went to the University of Utah in the same role.
From the press release:
“In a short period of time, Scott has made a great impact on our athletic department. He understands the trajectory of USF Athletics and will ensure that we continue moving forward without interruption during the search process,” USF Systems President Judy Genshaft said.
Kull joined USF in 2016 after spending 11 years working as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Operations at TCU among other positions within the department. He also worked at Florida State from 1997-2005 as the Associate Athletics Director and General Manager of Host Communications.
In addition to the announcement of Kull, USF also stated that Dr. Bill Sutton, a professor in the Muma School of Business and director of the Vinik Sport & Entertainment Management Program, will be charged with the search of a permanent athletic director. The school will also hire an outside firm to help with the search.
At the top of the list of potential replacements are Tampa Bay Sports Commission Executive Director (and USF alum) Rob Higgins and former Tampa Bay Buccaneer and Hall of Fame linebacker Derrick Brooks.
Since January, Collin has had Rob Higgins and Dr. Bill Sutton as guests on the 813area Podcast. To learn more about them follow the link and take a listen below.
Also while I'm out here plugging, @RHiggins_TBSC was actually the first guest we ever had on the @813area podcast, which was a prep for Gasparilla/NHL All-Star Weekend. He probably gave the best answer to our "Why Tampa?" question ever. https://t.co/UVhlJtuo1d— USF AD Odds Board Bookie (@CollinSherwin) June 4, 2018
