Senior safety Jaymon Thomas was named to the 2018 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List on Thursday, becoming the third USF player to be named to an award watch-list this preseason.
The Wuerffel Trophy is given to the college football player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

According to USF’s release, Thomas has a 3.48 grade point average in health sciences and is active in numerous community service endeavors including Boys and Girls Club of Tampa, Tampa Parks and Recreation KABOOM! Playground build, and speaking to kids at the Bethune Education Center in Immokalee.
He is one of ten players from the American Athletic Conference named to the watch list, joined by Cincinnati’s Garrett Campbell, ECU’s Garrett McGhin, Houston’s Mulbah Car, Memphis’ Patrick Taylor, Navy’s Andrew Wood, SMU’s Jordan Wyatt, Temple’s Frank Nutile, Tulsa’s Willie Wright, and UConn’s Matt Peart.
