Bulls In The Pros: Week 1 Preseason Recap

It was a busy weekend for several former Bulls.

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Green Bay Packers USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin

With the first slate of NFL preseason games in the books, several former USF Bulls made their professional debuts over the weekend.

Let’s check in on how the new, and the old, fared.

WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Green Bay Packers

Despite some early drops, the former USF star wide receiver stole the preseason show and put together an impressive debut in his new shade of green and gold.

Valdes-Scantling hauled in five-catches, including a big 51-yard grab, for 101-yards and one touchdown in the Packers’ 31-17 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Keep an eye on Valdes-Scantling throughout the preseason, as his size and speed should only add to an already potent Packers offense.

Elsewhere,

  • The greatest player in the history of USF football, Quinton Flowers, had one carry for six yards in his Cincinnati Bengals debut.
  • DT Bruce Hector registered three tackles, one sack, a quarterback hit and a forced fumble in his debut with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
  • Undrafted DE Mike Love had two tackles for loss in his first game with the Buffalo Bills.
  • Free agent LB Nigel Harris recorded three tackles, two solo, for the hometown Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
  • Also now with the Buccaneers, veteran DE Jason Pierre-Paul had a quarterback hit and two tackles in his first appearance with his new team.
  • Second-year Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack had two receptions for 23 yards, and four carries for nine more yards. Mack, however is expected to miss a “few weeks” with a hamstring strain.
  • DT Deadrin Senat recorded two solo tackles in his NFL debut with the Atlanta Falcons.
  • On Saturday night, CB Deatrick Nichols registered four tackles, two solo, in his debut with the Arizona Cardinals.
