There’s no #26 listed on this year’s USF Football roster (yet), so we’ll use this day to profile some of the incoming freshman. We’ll start off with the early enrolees.
#29 RB Brian Norris Jr. - Freshman, 6’2”, 228 pounds
How he came to USF: The running back out of Chiefland ran for 1,539 yards and 17 touchdowns throughout his prep career. Initially an under-the-radar prospect, it didn’t take long to realize that the combination of his massive size and speed was exactly what Charlie Strong was looking for as a potential future bellcow feature back of the offense.
Recruiting Rankings: Rated as a three-star by 247.

#39 Punter/Kicker Trent Schenider - Freshman, 6,0”, 197 pounds
How he came to USF: Aussie born specialist came to USF from Santa Barbara City College, where he punted 48 times for an average of 38.6 yards per punt as a freshman. He’s the latest in the line of SBCC punters to earn an FBS scholarship, a list that includes Tim Gleeson (Rutgers), Joel Whitford (Washington), and 2016 Ray Guy Award winner Mitch Wishnowsky (Utah).

#47 LB Dwayne Boyles - Freshman, 6’3”, 210 pounds
How he came to USF: Coming to USF from pipeline Miami Central, Boyles served as a DE/LB hybrid, posting 37 tackles, 12 sacks, and an interception during his senior season. He chose the Bulls over offers from C., Kentucky, and Tulane among others.
Recruiting Rankings: Was shot up to four-star status by 247 in their final Class of 2018 rankings update and was rated as the 30th best outside linebacker prospect in the country.

#82 WR Zion Roland - Freshman, 5’11”, 196 pounds
How he came to USF: Originally a Louisville commit, the St. Pete Admiral Farragut product flipped to the nearby school literally during an incoming hurricane. He ended up catching four passes for 41 yards during the spring game.
Recruiting Rankings: Rated as a four-star by ESPN and a three-star by both 247 and Rivals. He was the highest rated recruit for #Stampede18 throughout most of the cycle.

#93 DE Stacy Kirby - Freshman, 6’3”, 255 pounds
How he came to USF: Kirby was originally committed to Jimbo Fisher’s staff at Florida State before his offer was pulled after the ensuing coaching changeover (ironically by former USF head coach Willie Taggart). It looked as if the Orlando Jones pass rusher would sign with hometown C., but he ultimately decided to come to Tampa at the last minute. He also held offers from Auburn, Florida, LSU, and Ohio State among others.
Recruiting Rankings: Rated as a three-star by Rivals, 247, and ESPN.
