USF started the 2018 season on a positive note on Saturday, cruising to a 34-14 win over Elon.
A new year means a new season of EMOJICAP... actually, make that GIFMOJICAP. This year we’re adding GIFs to the mix as we look back at our look back at our favorite moments of the game and hand out emojis.
Let’s jump in...

A round of applause to Blake Barnett, who had a solid outing in his highly anticipated debut as the Bulls’ starting quarterback.
Making his first start since debuting at Alabama as a redshirt freshman two years ago, the Corona, CA, native went 24-of-34 through the air for 305 yards and three passing touchdowns in three quarters. His 305 fell six shy of Mike White’s record for most passing yards by a USF QB in their debut start.
One aspect of Air BnB’s skillset that surprised everyone, even the coaching staff, during fall camp was his mobility, and he showed a little bit of that with this keeper for a TD in the third.
Also a round of applause to redshirt freshman wide receiver Randall St. Felix, who balled out in his debut with seven receptions for 143 yards and this touchdown on USF’s first drive.

We’ve gotten used to senior wide receiver Tyre McCants using his 5’11”, 240 pound frame to boulder over people and we saw it again with this touchdown in the second quarter.

Speaking of McCants, you remember his windmill celebration after catching the game-winning touchdown from a g l o r i f i e d r u n n i n g b a c k during the Birmingham Bowl, right?
Well we saw the return of the windmill after Mike Hampton’s interception.

SHOUTOUTS!
- Shoutout to true freshman Johnny Ford, who showed his speed in his green and gold debut. The Miami native had 43 rushing yards on eight attempts on the ground and two kickoff returns for 26 yards.
- Shoutout to the student section, who turned out nicely for the home opener despite some, uh, “scheduling issues.” Keep that up for Georgia Tech next week.
College Football is back! at that Student Section! Great to see all the students come out and support @USFFootball vs. Elon! #USF pic.twitter.com/U3yLOORNlP
