A record night for the Bulls as we score the most goals in program history!
Five different goal-scorers, TWO hat tricks and a brace!
Tonight wasn't all offense though, our defense limited the Falcons to just one shot!#RiseUp #HornsUp pic.twitter.com/L03kA07N2j
The game vs the NAIA school was scheduled on Wednesday after the Bulls had two consecutive games cancelled due to weather related issues. It had been two weeks since the Bulls last saw action, so a tune-up game was a good move by the coaches to prepare the team for upcoming American Athletic Conference slate.
Despite Florida College being an NAIA school, the win and stats will count toward USF’s season. The Bulls scored exactly one minute into the game with the first career goal from freshman forward Sydny Nasello. She would score a hat trick with goals also in the 43rd and 48th minute, making her the seventh Bull ever to score a hatty.
Junior striker Evelyne Viens pulled 4 goals closer to the all time USF goal-scoring record, with a first half hat trick and a goal in the 52nd minute. She needs five more to tie the all time record, six to break it. Forwards junior Aubrey Megrath, sophomore Leah Ferlin, and freshman Autumn Woodard all found the scoreboard too, with the freshman Woodard scoring two.
Bulls with assists on the day (deep breath): Sydny Nasello, Sabrina Wagner, Leah Ferlin, Andrea Hauksdottir, Kelli Burney, and Hannah Seybold. USF changed keepers at halftime, and sophomore Rikki Farquharson made the only save on the day for USF on Florida College’s only shot.
The Bulls begin conference play at UConn next Thursday. They stay on the road at Temple that Sunday before returning home vs Cincinnati on Thursday, October 4th.
