Coming off an open date this past week, 4-0 USF finds itself knocking on the door of its first national ranking of the season.
The Bulls received the most votes among teams not ranked in the latest Amway Coaches Poll presented by USA Today with 109.
In the Associated Press Top 25, they sat behind Boise state with the second-most votes among unranked teams with 83. Rob Long of 105.7 FM The Fan in Baltimore once again came through with the highest ranking for the Green and Gold, slotting them at 19 in his poll.
C. once again clocked in as the highest ranked Group of Five school, moving up a spot to 13 in the AP and 14 in the Coaches. The aforementioned Boise moved up one spot to 24 in the Coaches while receiving the most votes of unranked teams in the AP with 86. 5-0 Cincinnati is also garnering votes in both polls.
There was plenty of shakeup in the backend of the AP this week, with No. 20 BYU, No. 22 Duke, No. 23 Mississippi State, No. 24 Cal, and No. 25 Texas Tech all going down. As a result, Colorado, Florida, NC State, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma State all jumped into the polls as newly ranked teams.
We’ll see if more shakeup along with a win at UMass on Saturday will break USF into the top 25 by this time next week. But then again, all of this is just an exercise out of habit until the CFP rankings drop later on in the season.
