USF Women’s soccer 1-0 at UCF in the War on I-4 Thursday night. USF had already clinched the first round bye in the conference tournament, but was still fighting for the no. 1 seed on the last day of the regular season.
The trend from the regular season continued with USF holding a shots and shots on goal advantage the entire game. The Bulls outshot UCF 19-11, and shots on goal favored the Bulls 10-7. Junior Katie Kitching had three shots on frame to lead USF in shots on goal, and senior Evelyn Viens had four shots with two forcing UCF’s goalkeeper to make a save.
The deciding goal was scored by UCF’s Ellie Moreno in the 43rd minute as she slotted one past the outstretched arms of sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Martinez. USF used an onslaught of opportunities to try to level the score, but none found the back of the net.
The loss also puts USF at a 15-0 deficit in the War on I-4 Standings. USF has been rarely competitive since its inception.
