USF men’s golf crushed the competition at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate for their first win of the 2018-2019 season. The Bulls finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with an astounding 24-under 840.

Freshman Albin Bergstrom (-15) broke the USF 36-hole and 54-hole record with his 11-under 133 and 15-under 201, respectively. He also won his first collegiate title with a nine stroke victory over Ian Peng from VCU.

The Bulls led wire-to-wire on their way to a 23 stroke win over FGCU (-1), and the 12-team field that included UConn, Boston College, FAU, and Villanova.

Freshman Luke Gifford earned his first top-five finish after carding a 5-under 211. Junior Kyle Flexsenhar finished tied for 13th with his 1-over 217. He had a good bounce back on Tuesday shooting even-par after a rough second round saw him shoot 3-over 75.

Freshman Anthony Muttillo made his lineup debut to card a 2-over 218. He was 2-under heading into the final round before two bogeys and a triple-bogey in a five-hole span sent in from 2-under to 3-over for the afternoon.

The Bulls will host the USF Invitational at Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club beginning on Monday.
