The lefty from Cape Coral was selected by the Rays in the 2018 MLB Draft and has already made a good impression with the club in just over a year since getting picked in the first round.
McClanahan had a bumpy April with an ERA of 4.71, but when the calendar changed to May, he settled down and took over a full run off of his ERA and 24 points off his batting average against.
Through ten games as a starter, McClanahan is 3-4 with a 3.19 ERA, with 68 strikeouts to 26 walks. Overall, in 11 appearances, he’s 4-4 with a 3.40 ERA, with 74 strikeouts and 31 walks.
