Our friends at FBS Schedules pointed out on Friday that the scheduled USF-Louisville game in 2024 at Raymond James Stadium has been moved up to Aug. 31, serving as the campaign opener for both schools.

Originally scheduled for Sep. 21, the move comes as a result as a series of shifts by Western Kentucky, whom the Bulls were originally supposed to open the 2024 season against. The Hilltoppers announced the addition of a game at Ohio State in 2023 earlier this week, moving their scheduled game to Week 1 of the 2024 season on Aug. 31.
As a result, USF effectively swapped the dates between their two Kentucky-based non-conference foes with the UL game now slated for Aug. 31 and the WKU game now scheduled for Sep. 21. It helps that Louisville had some flexibility with a home matchup versus region rival Indiana being the only other non-conference game on their 2024 schedule so far.
This will be the second of a three-game series between the two former Big East schools with the first (2022) and third (2026) games taking place at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in Louisville.
