USF Men’s soccer improves to 2-1 on the season after cruising past no. 5 Louisville at Corbett Stadium by a score of 2-0. The Bulls shutout the Cardinals, who were coming off a 3-0 victory over in-state rival and no. 9 Kentucky, and a 3-0 victory over Florida Atlantic just days prior.

The Bulls got on the board early, when junior Josue Monge received a pass from junior Avionne Flanagan, who slotted it past the goalie for a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute. Shortly after, Flanagan found his way around the Louisville defense and his shot was deflected by the Cardinals’ keeper. Freshmen striker Victor Claudel was in the right place at the right time and hit a beautiful one-timer to double the lead in the 19th minute. Claudel would end the night with three shots, two of them on goal.

The Bulls held a narrow shot margin of 9-8, but made them count. USF senior keeper Harrison Devenish-Mears collected five saves on the evening, and has already accounted for nine saves on the year.
The Bulls will look to continue bolstering their resume with a trip to take on Lipscomb this Friday evening. The Bison are coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance last season and looking to continue momentum in the A-Sun conference.
