USF Women’s Basketball Sweep Weekly Accolades, Justin Brown Lauded on Honor Roll

After dominating performances, three Bulls receive praise for their efforts by the conference.

The duo of Sydni Harvey and Elena Tsineke received American Athletic Conference Player of the Week and Freshmen of the Week after a dominating 99-51 performance over Temple this past week. Sydni and Elena combined for 50 points, nearly outscoring the Owls entire team by themselves.

Sophomore guard Sydni Harvey was unstoppable from behind the arc, hitting seven of eight three-pointers and adding four free throws to get to the quarter century mark. Harvey also added two steals and two assists in 28 minutes of play.

Freshman guard Elena Tsineke went eight for eighteen on field goals, including three for seven from the three point line, while adding six free throws to give her a career high 25 points. The Greek native added four assists and three rebounds, giving USF one of the most complete performances this season. She also was on the receiving end of a nifty behind the back pass from Elisa Pinzan to get to no. 7 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays.

USF women’s basketball will look to make a statement win away from the Yuengling Center as they travel to Tulane who is 7-3 in the conference so far this year.

Justin Brown Receives Weekly Honor Roll Accolade

USF men’s basketball forward Justin Brown also received praise, making the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll for his performance at Memphis.

The junior scored 14 points and a career-high 16 rebounds as the Bulls defeated Memphis 75-73 in the programs first Quad 1 victory since NET rankings began in 2017-2018. USF men’s basketball is now on a three game win streak thanks to their post play, out rebounding the last three opponents 117-79 and outscoring them 82-70 in the paint.

The team will look to continue their win streak when no. 25 Houston comes to Tampa on Wednesday February 12th at 9 pm.
