At long last the USF football team gets some love from the preseason watch lists. Don’t expect this to be a common occurrence in the Jeff Scott era.
Jared Sackett Back On A Familiar List
Two-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist Jared Sackett got the Bulls off the snide Wednesday when he was once again named to the Groza Award watch list.
The junior transfer from Arkansas by way of UTEP connected on 19-of-23 field goals in 2017, and 14-of-19 in 2018, including nine FGs over 40 yards for the Miners.
Sackett sat out the 2019 season after transferring to Arkansas.
The Mayor of Tampa Continues to Shine On and Off the Field
Senior cornerback K.J. Sails was named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, given annually to student-athletes who excel on the field, in the community, and in the classroom.
Sails forced five turnovers (three interceptions), while registering nine passes defended, and 42 tackles.
More importantly, in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Sails organized a peace march through downtown Tampa which included prominent members of the USF and Tampa community.
Sails has proven himself to be an asset in the community, and on the field.
Congratulations to both players.
(Wear a mask so we can watch them play this season.)
