So what do you want him to do? Tell him!

Mark Harlan is going to get a LOT of unsolicited advice in the next few weeks. Much of it is going to come from people that donate more to the University of South Florida than you do, but he'll also meet with coaches, donors, students, fans... basically every constituency out there. But what do you want him to hear from you?

We'll do everything we can to make sure he sees this. No guarantees obviously, but we've got a little juice in the building and we'll get it to the people around him. The only thing we ask is that you keep it short. The only lengthy diatribe is the one we're going to write here after things start to settle down and we actually get to hear from the man.

Think of it as an elevator pitch: you've got 30 seconds to pour your green-and-gold colored heart out to the man that controls our Bulls' destiny. This should end up looking like a Rorschach Test of the state of our fan base. It may not be pretty right now, but it should end up being a snapshot in time.

Share with us below!!

FYI: The reader survey we did a few weeks ago showed us SO many of you read us every single day but just don't ever comment on anything. This would be a perfect place to at least open an account and write something. Our page views and analytics tell us we're getting read by thousands of you at least a couple times a week, but not everyone is saying something. This should be a topic on which everyone can chime in. Come join the party!

Well this is... weird.

So I wrote this yesterday:

Mark Harlan is the rumor, and it seems like USF will move very quickly from here. We profiled Harlan here: http://t.co/BIMkCeKtMz

And then Joey Knight said he heard the same things I was hearing:

Like others such as @USFCollin, I'm hearing UCLA associate AD Mark Harlan as new #USF AD. Nothing officially confirmed. VERY secret process

So it seems the smart money is on Mark Harlan to be USF's new AD as we're still trying to figure out if and when the search committee will meet again, and when this becomes official. Yes our SB Nation cohorts at Bruins Nation would look upon this poorly, however we're certainly willing to give the new guy a chance, especially considering there's been no formal confirmation yet. But then... well, it just got a bit unusual. To the Twitterverse!

@TBTimes_Bulls @USFCollin How is it possible that our new AD only has 38 twitter followers? I have 20 and I am nobody.

That made me search again to find Mark Harlan's Twitter account, so I did and Tweeted this so people that might want to follow could add him as I had just done:

Before I sent out that Tweet I did a quick scan of his timeline, which seemed to be mostly retweets about things at UCLA. Yes he didn't have a ton of followers, but it seemed like a newish account so I didn't think twice about it. But then shortly thereafter...

So the guy that everyone is saying is USF's new AD shut down his social media presence just due to a couple of mentions mere seconds after they happen? Seriously?? Considering when this job first came open and we did our first Odds Board with bios we said this:

We're adding a Twitter handle for each person since we basically consider it a requirement for the new guy or gal. Someone that's in touch with the fans and alumni via new media is the kind of person USF needs. You don't need to be @celebrityhottub levels of funny or @corybooker levels of accessible... but we at least want you to have an account.

Well... let's just say this wasn't the most comfortable introduction to the guy that's probably the guy.

We're still very willing to give him a chance, and though we respect the Bruins Nation guys as fellow SB Nation bloggers, we don't really know them. They could be crazy surfers that hold up banks like in Point Break to pay for Rose Bowl tickets for all we know (we did send them an email asking for some follow-up on Harlan but haven't gotten a response yet). But so far what the internet tells us about the guy everyone is whispering about hasn't been stellar as a Google search for "Mark Harlan" or "Mark Harlan UCLA" isn't the most flattering. And then he just axes his Twitter? Y U H8 TEH INTERTUBES MARK???

I guess this means winning the press conference is going to be more important than normal, but again, this is all assuming he's the new Athletic Director. And the only reason we're busting out Initech's Jump To Conclusions mat is because I've got over half a dozen people telling me that's what's happening, and Joey Knight is hearing the same things. So unless there's a The Usual Suspects level of twist by Judy Genshaft and the search committee, this seems likely to happen.

But remember 10 years ago USF was all set to give the job to Virginia's Jon Oliver, but then started digging into his past... and ended up with Doug Woolard who was their second choice, as another finalist Mark Hollis was either third or fourth. So until there's a signed contract and a press conference... hey, it's USF:

Until you see this woman behind a podium doing what she's doing above... nothing is official.

We finally got some stuff we can write!! Let's do it!!

Before we begin, keep this in mind:

There was a meeting of the USF Athletic Director search committee on Feb. 18th. I spoke yesterday with USF spokesman Adam Freeman yesterday, who said that no further meetings of the committee are scheduled. Yet all we're hearing is that a hire is coming no later than the end of next week. Which means most likely Judy Genshaft and AD Search Committee Chair Bill Sutton are currently interviewing candidates recommended by search firm Eastman and Beaudine. Remember, any committee meeting is subject to Florida Sunshine Laws, and would by law need to be reported here. But if just one member of the committee attends a candidate interview, that's not something we can access via an FOIA request. So basically the search committee isn't doing anything in public, if anything at all.

Also, check out the diversity below... as in not diverse at all. Let's at least hope we can find some non-white guy names to surface at some point. I'd love to see us make a hire that looks like America, but getting the right person is the most important thing. Here are some of the candidates we're hearing:

Joe Parker: Deputy Athletics Director, Texas Tech University: 5-1

Parker seems to be a leading guy for several people, and this Tweet might be indicative of his relationship to Bob Beaudine of Eastman and Beaudine, the firm assigned to the AD search by USF.

The book the girls are holding? That's "You Got Who," written by Bob Beaudine (FYI Beaudine's Twitter is @YouGotWho). This was at a book signing and speech given by event at Texas Tech on Feb. 20th with Beaudine, just two days after the original AD Search Committee meeting. Beaudine also hired Parker's boss, Red Raiders AD Kirby Hocutt, to Texas Tech.

Parker is an '87 Michigan grad and former swimmer who worked extensively in development for the Wolverines, and has his MBA from Texas in '94, with stops at Wazzu and Oklahoma along the way before arriving in Lubbock in 2011.

Parker was also given a Letter of Reprimand by the NCAA for his involvement in the football issues at Michigan. The allegations included going over the 20 hour athletics limit for student-athletes under former coach Rich Rodriguez. Seven UMich department employes were given the reprimand, and as of now at least six of them are no longer in Ann Arbor.

Parker doesn't seem to be on Twitter.

Mark Harlan, Senior Associate Athletic Director, UCLA: 6-1

All we heard is that Harlan is being considered, so let's not totally freak out here. But our fellow SB Nation homies Bruins Nation have written extensively about Harlan, and we'll let the title of this piece speak on its own. Yikes. Harlan came to Westwood in 2010, where he's the sport supervisor for men's basketball and helped with the funding to redo Pauley Pavilion. Prior to that he was at hls alma mater, Arizona, as well as San Jose State.

Let's hope the committee does a Google search before they make the hire. Honesty and trustworthiness would seem to be qualities we really need in a new AD that's trying to rebuild the image of a program.

Danny White, Athletic Director, Buffalo: 6-1

And hey, he won't even have to stop saying "Go Bulls!" White has only been in upstate NY since May of 2012, but prior to that was Senior Associate AD at Ole Miss, and worked for Tom Boeh (see below) at Fresno State as his Assoc AD for Development from 2007-2009. White is young (was the youngest AD in FBS when he took over), and his family has extensive ties to the industry: his Dad is the AD at Duke, one brother is the head basketball coach at La. Tech, another is Associate AD.

Interesting piece here from the Buffalo News on White too: it might show how he'd leverage the resources of the major institution in helping to sell the university to the community (did you know Buffalo was an AAU school? I sure didn't).

He's bounced around a bit in his young career, and you'd hate for USF to be a stepping stone for him, but White seems to check most of the other boxes. Also an '02 Notre Dame grad, where he played basketball, and masters from Ohio University.

Mario Moccia, Athletic Director, Southern Illinois: 7-1

The Athletic Director at Doug Woolard's alma mater, Moccia has been the Salukis AD since arriving in 2006, and was named Under Armour AD of The Year in 2013. The Salukis have done an $80 million facilities rebuild, which is even more than the Bulls spent on theirs. We also liked the way he publicly supported his crazy basketball coach after that rant for the ages. Prior to Carbondale, he was Senior Assoc. AD at Missouri for seven years.

Moccia is an '89 graduate of New Mexico State where he played baseball.

Tom Boeh: Athletics Director, Fresno State University: 15-1

Boeh is about as safe a hire as USF could make. He's spent the last nine years as AD in The Valley, and was the AD at Ohio University for the 10 years previous to that. He brings plenty of experience, and was integral in getting the Bulldogs from the WAC to the Mountain West. Not a lot of sizzle here, but plenty of not gonna screw it up.

He helped to expand facilities at Fresno, but that seems to be less of an issue for the Bulls at this time unless a stadium campaign begins. He also hired Tim DeRuyter to replace Pat Hill as head football coach, who led Fresno State to an 11-2 record last year and a berth in the Las Vegas Bowl (which we attended, and saw LOTS of Bulldog fans). Fresno State is certainly a success story lately, and it's tough to build a successful program in the middle of San Joaquin Valley.

Boeh is a graduate of Loras College in '81, and has a masters in Athletic Administration from Illinois in '88.

Checks all the boxes, except he has no ties to Tampa. Seven years as Assoc. AD at FSU after 13 years as President of their Varsity Club, 4 year football letterwinner, and FSU Athletics Hall of Fame member. Currently oversees the Noles internal operations as well as FSU Football. Also worked in the ECHL as well as the Arena League from 1997-2003.

Plenty of experience, and has put the resume necessary together to take over a big school with big football. But why would he leave his alma mater? Is this a job he even wants?

Jackson has been at Auburn forever, as a coach under Pat Dye and an administrator ever since. He was certainly hands-on with the Tigers football program as the #2 guy in the athletic department, as this profile from just after the Tigers national championship shows. But he was also taken off the football beat when Gene Chizik was axed, and he's absolutely not the most popular guy on The Plains either. Just check this Change.org petition to get his boss Jay Jacobs fired as there's plenty of references to everything that's wrong with Jackson.

Tim graduated from Millsaps College '87, and has a masters in college administration from Auburn in '89. Shades of Bill McGillis here, so probably not a direction USF wants to head at this point.

Weird I know, but he's got a ton of experience in sports only leaving the industry last August. Was the Exec VP for Revenue Enhancement for Madison Square Garden, and Exec VP for Business Operations for the Charlotte Bobcats previously. Basically no college athletics experience to speak of, but it's an outside the box hire, and shaking up the status quo is something a lot of USF fans would encourage. Looks like he can raise money, and that's something USF is going to need desperately in their new hire. Also seems to have ties to Bill Sutton from their days in the NBA together.

Do we think the Bulls go there? Probably not, but interesting he's apparently being considered in the first place.

We like Craig too much to let that atrocity stay as his avatar. Still think it's highly, highly unlikely USF goes internal for this hire, though any new AD would be wise to keep Craig around as he's got a great feel for the department and would be highly helpful in a transition.

OK USF: You missed on Mark Hollis 10 years ago. If this next hire is a flop, this is the guy we're pointing to and saying you should have gotten. This wouldn't have been the worst path of a search you know:

Robert Clifford, Senior Assoc. AD, Oregon State University: 100-1

If you're applying online for the job, chances are you're not going to get it. But of the four crazy people that took the time to do so, Clifford is by far the most qualified. Been at OSU for decades, and currently oversees football as well as other sports. Has had a hand in fundraising, and previously worked for a year at FAU.

Also, the Brad Edwards that applied better not be the Brad Edwards that's currently the AD at Jacksonville University. I'm sure that looks great to your coaches and fans that you're trolling other schools websites like you're on LinkedIn looking for a new gig.

Now that the school is looking for a replacement for Doug Woolard, it's a good time to figure out what USF really needs its athletic director to do for them.

Note: This is a piece co-written by our entire staff. We all chipped in here, so think of it more as an editorial board collective.

So Doug Woolard is leaving. A few of us have met him, and none of us have a bad word to say about him personally. He's shown his kindness to fans, letting them stay warm or dry in the Selmon Building waiting for rides home, and picking up tabs and helping fans out when they're on the road. And hopefully someone will figure out who slashed his tires in Orlando.

All of us want USF Athletics to succeed very badly. With the search for a new athletic director about to begin, this is a chance for the university to put Athletics back on the path to success that seemed inevitable just a few years ago. USF needs to get this hire right, because with the gap already forming between the power and non-power football conferences, there may not be another opportunity for us to catch up.

These are the qualities we think USF should look for in a new athletic director:

* Find someone who still sees the same opportunity in USF Athletics that we all still know is there. They need a lot of energy, good communications skills, media relations skills, and a real, tangible plan to rebuild our athletic department.

* Whoever shows up has to be ready to work hard. This is not a cushy job for a retread AD to come in and coast towards retirement.

* No empty platitudes like "Why not USF." The new person needs to tell us what needs to be done and how we're going to do it.

* Much like the football program needed with Willie Taggart, we think the big chair needs someone with enthusiasm and salesmanship. We're not a self-starting fan base yet. We need some support and guidance and even some cheerleading.

* They don't necessarily have to have experience as an athletic director. They can hire a #2 to help them out with the mechanics of running a department. But salesmanship should be non-negotiable.

* Engaging the media is a tricky balance. They should be accessible and willing to talk, but when things are going well they should be able to blend into the scenery. Coaches and players should always have the spotlight on good teams. When things aren't going well, the AD needs to be out in front and demonstrating that they're taking care of the problem. One of our biggest concerns with Athletics has been that no one would answer the tough questions when they needed to be asked. That can't continue.

* We can't emphasize the need for a plan enough. Outside of hiring football coaches, and maybe the Athletics Village, I'm not sure Athletics has had an overall plan for quite awhile. Or if there was one, no one on the outside knew what it was. There may well have been some good ideas on the table. But there was almost no communication with the people who could have helped bring them to life. As ticket-buyers and donors, we should get at least some information.

* They have to be ready to sell USF Athletics hard to the alums, the casual fans, and the local business community, because no one's done that for a long time.

* What would motivate you to donate? Or donate more? Or buy tickets? Of course we mean other than winning, because that's not always going to happen. Do you need a goal? Do you need to be challenged? Do you need a solid plan to invest in? A new AD has to find out what motivates our fan base and tap into it for support.
What would get a local business to donate? Or donate more? Or advertise? Or sponsor an event? Or at the top level, put their name on the Sun Dome, which we've been trying to sell the naming rights to since forever? Even more than fans, businesses need a solid plan to invest in, because most of them won't throw money at things irrationally.
Which reminds me - if you're successful at fundraising, maybe you can lighten up the burden the students are carrying to balance your budget. Yes, they get free admission to games out of the deal, but student fees should not be 40% of your revenue.

They need to earn the respect of the people who work for them, including the coaches and their staffs.

* Bosses can't be liked by everyone. They have to make tough decisions that can upset people. What they can do is treat everyone fairly, explain their decisions, and welcome input and feedback. They can let the people they hired do their jobs without constant interference. And they can show them that they're valued in meaningful ways (this does not always mean money).

* USF lost a lot of talented, dedicated people from its staff the last few years because they were micromanaged, ignored, run over, and taken for granted (not to mention terribly underpaid compared to their peers at other schools). The toxic work environment might have cost them quality candidates who found out what they would be getting into and withdrew from consideration for jobs, or just never applied in the first place. In the position they're in now, USF Athletics cannot afford to drive away smart people who want to be there.

There's also one thing that we as fans have to do:

We have to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and acting like we're powerless.

This "oh, what could we do, woe is us" attitude has got to stop. No one's coming to save USF and no one's giving us anything. It's on all of us to solve our own problems. The right leader will set goals we can help achieve, and a vision we can rally around. We haven't had either of those for too long, and it's led us to where we are now. We have to fight just as hard as the teams we cheer for to get USF back on track.

These are just a few things we think are needed to get the Bulls on track to success. The six members of the search committee have been named, and having wonderful community leaders like Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Oscar Horton is a tremendous boon for the program: it shows they care about the fate of the Bulls and their long-term direction. They want USF to succeed. And that kind of support is huge to fixing the hole in which we find ourselves.

We'll get behind whomever they choose, but we hope it's someone that's able to step in and reinvigorate the bond between an athletics department and a community. Much of the bond of trust has been broken, and USF needs to earn it back before the damage is irreparable.

Finally, we can't be afraid to take a chance. If we're going to go down, let's go down swinging. Mark Hollis was one of the four finalists last time USF hired an athletic director, but he was considered "too radical" because he told the committee he wanted to do things like play a basketball game on an aircraft carrier in Tampa Bay. He ended up doing it (at Michigan State no less), was named the Athletic Director of the Year in 2012, and is currently designing his Rose Bowl ring to go with his basketball national championship ones. He's a rock star in the profession, and we let him pass. We absolutely cannot make the same mistake again.

We played it too close to the vest for too long, and we're out of currency with our community. When you're low on chips, sometimes you have to move all-in. This is USF's all-in moment.

The USF College of Business professor is the director of the new USF Sport and Entertainment Management program.

Multiple sources tell us Bill Sutton, professor and director of the new USF Sport Management program, will be named chairman of the still-forming USF Athletic Director Search Committee.

Sutton is a triple graduate of Oklahoma State (bachelor's, masters, and doctorate), and has served at USF as the professor and founding director of the Sport & Entertainment Graduate Program in the College of Business since 2012. Prior to coming to USF, he spent eight years at C. Florida as a professor and associate department head at the Devos Sport Business Program. Prior stops in his nearly 30 year career include UMass-Amherst, Ohio State, and Robert Morris College.

Sutton also has served as a marketing consultant for the NBA during academic sabbaticals, and is currently President of Bill Sutton & Associates, a sports marketing firm with a diverse client base. He's also a member of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission Board, where fan favorite Rob Higgins currently serves as executive director.

As reported by the Tampa Bay Times' Joey Knight earlier, USF has already retained the firm of Eastman & Beaudine to aid in the search for the new athletic director for a fee of $100,000.

You didn't think we'd combine our loves of gambling, USF, and baseless speculation to handicap the outcome of the now-in-effect AD search? Well then you don't know us very well.

All bets are action once you leave the window. Drink tickets can't be used for premium cocktails. Let's do this.

First update: January 17th, 7:15am.

We will keep this page updated as new candidates peek through the curtain, and as we can round out the bios we will do so. Odds will also be updated as frequently as possible and/or necessary.

A few notes:

* Notice we have longer bios for the people we know than the people we don't. We're trying to share as much information as we can here, and some of these folks we just happen to know. As we learn things about the others, we'll add it here.

* We're adding a Twitter handle for each person since we basically consider it a requirement for the new guy or gal. Someone that's in touch with the fans and alumni via new media is the kind of person USF needs. You don't need to be @celebrityhottub levels of funny or @corybooker levels of accessible... but we at least want you to have an account.

Also all the head shots we're using are from Twitter (sorry, Andrew).

Go time!

Rob Higgins, Executive Director, Tampa Bay Sports Commission: 3-2

He's the morning line chalk, and for good reason. Higgins bleeds green and gold, was the manager of the USF men's basketball team from the time he was a child, is a USF alum, and worked in facilities and event management for the Bulls as an undergraduate and afterwards before taking his current position with the TBSC in 2004. He's well-liked and respected in the community, knows everyone in town, and has proven he can sell (which is something the Bulls need more than ever). He's also got outstanding management experience as his last 10 years has grown the TBSC to a real economic force in the area.

This piece from Greg Auman last year gives you an idea about the guy. He's got a great sense of humor about himself, and loves Tampa as much as anyone.

Higgins has also brought in more events to Tampa Bay than anyone ever, and he just landed his biggest whale: The 2017 College Football Playoff Championship Game. Add that to the '08 & '11 NCAA Men's Basketball First and Second Rounds, the '08 NCAA Women's Final Four (returning in '15), the '08 & '09 ACC Football Championships, the '09 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament, the '09 NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship, the '12 NCAA Men's Frozen Four (returning in '16)... you get the idea.

Positives: Proven track record. Diehard Bull for life. Can hit the ground running.

Negatives: Getting him to give up his current job. Having to buy new furniture for the AD Suite (Rob is... diminutive? Vertically challenged?)

Honestly I had no idea who this guy was until his name was brought up yesterday, but his resume is a wowser: 19 years at FSU, finishing as the "CFO" of their athletics department, then six more at Oklahoma in the same capacity. He joined the team at IMG in the Summer of 2011, and has overseen expanding the facilities for the behemoth that is IMG in Bradenton.

Still learning more about him, but seems intriguing. A colleague of his described him to me this way: "I don't get to work with him often but when I do it's always a great experience. He's a decision maker, a doer, and knows what he wants."

Positives: Monster resume. Lots of intercollegiate athletics experience. Understands budgets and cash.

Negatives: Never been an AD. Bad at Twitter.

Twitter: @gregphillipsimg

Andrew Goodrich, Associate Athletic Director, Marketing, University of Miami: 8-1

Another former USF'er himself, Goodrich served as Assistant AD of Administration for the Bulls from 2005-09, where he was a member of the senior staff and sports administrator for sailing and golf. At Miami, he is responsible for the management of the marketing department's promotional, advertising and budgeting strategies. If you've been to a 'Canes basketball game, a lot of that atmosphere is Andrew.

Goodrich is also a Bull, as he is close to completing his doctorate from USF as soon as he finishes his dissertation, which is "Life-Long Learning and the Division I Student-Athlete Experience," and Judy Genshaft (I think) is a member of his doctoral committee. His MBA is from Notre Dame (where he also worked in Athletics), and he played college baseball at Cumberland University.

Andrew is smart, engaging, funny, and is on the fast track to being an athletic director somewhere, someday. He was promoted to his current position at Miami this past August, and is going to make a great AD for a major institution sometime soon.

Positives: Extensive experience in college athletics. Charismatic, and willing to take chances. Soon-to-be USF grad.

Negatives: Former Voodoo Five podcast guest (that can't be good for him).

Pat Chun, Athletic Director, Florida Atlantic University: 18-1

Chun replaced Craig Angelos (see below) at FAU in July of 2012. He was an Ohio State lifer until coming to Boca Raton, having spent 15 years in every capacity imaginable for the Buckeyes including communications and development. He finished as the executive associate athletics director for external relations, and at just 38 could be the type of young and dynamic leader USF craves.

Positives: Extensive experience in one of America's largest athletic programs.

Negatives: Just got to FAU.

Twitter: @pat_chun

Craig Angelos, Executive Senior Associate Director of Athletics, University of South Florida: 25-1

Just promoted by Doug Woolard on December 23rd, Angelos was previously USF's Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Services. Prior to that, Angelos was AD at FAU, where he was fired after 8.5 years in March of 2012.

Criticisms of Angelos by the Owls were mostly of the fundraising and marketing nature, and he hired Carl Pelini just before he was released by the school... but he also gets credit for building the Owls on-campus football stadium.

So why is he here? There's no way Judy Genshaft would have allowed him to be promoted so recently if she didn't have some faith and confidence in him. Plus people learn from their mistakes, and FAU is a notoriously difficult administration to deal with. Having said that... I'd be shocked if USF went internal for this hire.

Positives: AD experience. Built a football stadium.

Negatives: Fired at FAU for lack of fundraising and marketing, some of USF's biggest needs. USF most likely looking outside for some fresh ideas. Has Twitter but doesn't Tweet.

A national search for Woolard's replacement is now underway as USF Athletics prepares for new leadership.

Statement from USF Athletics in full:

University of South Florida System President Judy Genshaft and Athletic Director Doug Woolard announce his intent to retire at the end of his contract in June 2015. He will fulfill his current contract and complete several strategically important development projects, as well as assist in a succession plan and in the transition of a new director of athletics. A national search for a new athletic director will begin immediately.

Woolard was named to his current position in May 2004 and in his tenure at USF he has led a number of initiatives and accomplishments that allowed the Bulls' athletics programs to gain national recognition, as well as play a leading role in the American Athletic Conference and previously the Big East. Woolard is currently the chair of the American Athletic Conference Athletic Directors, a member of the NCAA Leadership Council and is on the Division I Athletic Directors Board of Directors.

"I have been truly blessed to enjoy a 40-year career in education and athletics. After Cherrie and I spent some great quality time with our family over the holidays, I have been visiting with the President for the last few weeks about initiating this plan," Woolard said. "I appreciate the special partnership I've enjoyed with President Genshaft and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of the outstanding coaches, members of our administrative staff, generous donors, and most importantly, our wonderful student athletes. Cherrie and I will treasure our time at USF; we are Bulls for life!"

During his tenure, USF's student athletes reached new heights in academic achievement and the university's athletics district was transformed with nearly $70 million in new or renovated facilities, including a $35.6 million renovation of the USF Sun Dome. USF athletics also produced substantial revenue growth that allowed the department to more than double its budget to $44 million.

The new campus athletics district, completed in 2012, ranks among the nation's most expansive facilities enhancements in the last 25 years. The project completed without use of university or state funds, included new football and basketball practice facilities; baseball, softball and soccer stadiums; a wellness and nutrition dining center and renovations to the USF Sun Dome, as well as current tennis and golf facilities. USF also has been recognized as a national leader in innovation and educational excellence by computer giant's Apple for USF's use of technology to improve the academic experience and achievement of student athletes.

Under Woolard, USF saw its overall athletics NCAA's Academic Progress Rate improve from 926 to 983 and both the men's basketball and football programs made major gains. USF's overall APR has improved each of the last seven years and the football team's APR ranked among the Top 25 of BCS conference schools in 2013.

Woolard also oversaw revenue increases that saw the athletics budget more than double during his tenure, expanded television and radio coverage of the program and initiated a unique educational partnership with Apple, Inc. allowing student-athletes access to a Macbook Pro computer each semester.
