Let's get right to it. Actually there's not a whole lot of news from Thursday's practice, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
-- LT Mark Popek is indeed injured, but it could have been a lot worse. He has a second-degree MCL sprain and will be out for 3-6 weeks, which means he might return in time for the start of the season if he can get back on the shorter end of that recovery window. (The Florida game would be 4 weeks, Western Kentucky would be 6, and FAU would be 7.) During his post-practice interview, Skip Holtz called the injury "the best-case scenario" after what he had seen on film.
-- Greg Auman headed back across the state Thursday, but Times correspondent Jon Santucci put together a quick practice recap and got some quotes from RT Jake Sims (who returned to practice today) and B.J. Daniels.
-- Before he left for Tampa, though, Auman won the Internet Thursday morning by working in a Fletch reference and mentioning Wiley and Clumsy Carp of the comic strip B.C. in a single blog post. A fantastic achievement.
-- ESPN's Big East blogger, Brian Bennett, has been working his way around the fall practices in the conference. He got to USF's yesterday and posted a pair of stories - one about Dontavia Bogan and the burden on his shoulders with all the injuries at wide receiver, and another about the team bonding at Dodgertown. (Bogan's ending quote is the source of today's roundup title.)
-- If you're a subscriber to Scout, you can catch an interview with running backs Mo Plancher and Demetris Murray on USFNation.com.
-- Scott found a poll on the Palm Beach Post's Web site asking which college coach in Florida was under the most pressure this season. It's an unscientific poll, of course, but the readers picked Randy Shannon as the one with the hottest seat, and strangely Jimbo Fisher in second. Skip Holtz finished tied for last at only 2%, equaling the vote for Howard Schnellenberger, AKA The Most Interesting Coach in the World.
-- Finally, it's USF Cribs live from Vero Beach, courtesy of USF's Training Camp Central. The "this is where the magic happens" toteboard is at 2 (although it's definitely not that kind of magic), and B.J. Daniels and Jon Lejiste use their ice bucket to... store ice.
