Skip Holtz has picked up his third commitment in the 2012 with a verbal pledge of Pensacola ATH Jalen Spenser. Spenser had offers from UAB and Southern Miss among other, but USF was the first to offer according to USFNation ($$ Article) and felt like USF was the place for him after stopping by for one of USF's Junior Days.

Spenser has been the starting quarterback for the Tigers since 2009, and led the Tigers to the 2009 State Championship with a 28-7 win over Miami Belen Jesuit. Last season Spenser led PHS to the Regional Finals before falling to St. Augustine 7-3.

While an accomplished QB, most recruiting services has Spenser pegged as a defensive back. Adam Adkins at the Tampa Tribune was able to get a hold of Spenser, and Jalen was fine with the move to DB if it happened,

"I feel like I can make that jump because I’m athletic. I love playing quarterback. I’ve been playing it my whole life, but if I’ve got to switch it up I’ll switch it up."

Spenser now joins fellow ATH Rayshawn Jenkins and Archbishop Shaw (LA) DE Ryan Brown on the 2012 Commitment list.
