Good news for Skip Holtz and the USF Football Team with the season opener just four days away. Greg Auman is reporting that TE Michael McFarland has been granted a hardship waiver by the NCAA and will be eligible to play for the Bulls this year.
McFarland came to USF as a walk-on transfer just before the start of fall camp from Florida, where he spent last year on the sidelines using his redshirt season.
Michael will help out with our lack of depth at TE, with converted WR Evan Landi, Andraes Shields, and Isaac Virgin on the roster. McFarland's immediate eligibility will also give Skip Holtz the chance to redshirt Tye Turner, who was primed to play as a true freshman.
If you guys haven't appreciated the work of our compliance department, now would be the time to do so. In just the past few months, we've seen Jordan Omogbehin allowed to stay on campus when he was destined for prep school and A.J. Love was granted a 6th year of eligibility.
There's a reason we call them our compliance ninjas.
