When GarySJ said that there was a way for everyone in the Big East except UConn to finish 4-3 in conference, I laughed at first, but then I realized that this is exactly the way this season is going to end up, with seven 4-3 teams tripping over each other to "win" the conference.
So lets check out the standings right now:
- Pitt 4-3 (2-0)
- Syracuse 5-2 (2-1)
- West Virginia 5-2 (1-1)
- Louisville 4-3 (1-1)
- Rutgers 4-3 (1-1)
- Cincinnati 3-4 (1-1)
- USF 4-3 (1-2)
- Connecticut 3-4 (0-2)
After the jump we will reveal each team's remaining schedule, how they will play out, and who will win the Big East this year.
There has to be one sucker in this whole thing, and since UConn is already 0-2 in conference, their starting QB has been kicked off the team, and their fans are packing it in, they fit the bill. So here's how UConn will lose the rest of their games this year.
- vs. West Virginia Loss
- vs. Pitt Loss
- @ Syracuse Loss
- vs. Cincinnati Loss
- @ USF Loss
Here is the remaining schedule and results for USF:
- vs. Rutgers Win (I'm so happy it turned out this way)
- @ Louisville Win
- vs. Pitt Loss
- @ Miami Loss
- vs. UConn Win
Cincinnati:
- vs. Syracuse Win
- @ West Virginia Loss
- vs. Rutgers Loss
- @ UConn Win

And finally Pitt:
- vs. Louisville Loss
- @ UConn Win
- @ USF Win
- vs. West Virginia Loss
- @ Cincinnati Loss
I think its fitting that Pitt drops the last two games to finish in a 7-way tie for 1st place. Here are the completed standings
- Syracuse 8-4 (4-3)
- West Virginia 8-4 (4-3)
- USF 7-5 (4-3)
- Rutgers 7-5 (4-3)
- Louisville 7-5 (4-3)
- Cincinnati 6-6 (4-3)
- Pitt 6-6 (4-3)
- UConn 3-9 (0-7)
So congrats to future Big East Champions Syracuse, who wins the tiebreaker over West Virginia due to their win over the Mountaineers last weekend in Morgantown. Pitt goes from 1st to 7th over the last two weeks, and USF has their best finish in the Big East.
Congrats again to Syracuse, and if this actually happens, I'll start playing Powerball that night.
