Another Brick in the Wall: Robinson WR Ruben Gonzalez Commits to USF

Fantastic news out of Tampa today, as Robinson WR/S Ruben Gonzalez has committed to USF this afternoon and will forgo his final visit to Iowa State this weekend. The 6'3 WR, who was ranked the 83rd WR prospect according to Scout.com chose USF over schools like Purdue and Iowa State. USFNation has an interview up with Ruben, and he said the honesty of the coaching staff pushed the Bulls over the top,

"Coach Holtz was honest before and after they offered me," said Ruben. "Coach Smith has been recruiting me hard and I felt like we developed a good bond, and coach McGeoghan is great too, I love the coaching staff."

Joey Knight of the St. Pete Times said that Gonzalez gave USF his commitment when Coach Holtz stopped by his house for an in-home visit last night. And if you guys are worried that Ruben might change his mind, Robinson Head Coach Mike LaPue has you covered,

"He is a firm, firm, firm commitment."

This is fantastic news, as Gonzalez is the type of recruit who always left the state instead of staying home and Going to USF. Just another brick in the wall around the Bay. Let's hope Armwood QB Josh Grady puts on a USF hat on Feburary 2nd so we can get our trifecta of Tampa recruits.
