DT James Hamilton Commits To USF Football

After an October to forget, Skip Holtz received some excellent news today when Orlando Olympia DT James Hamilton decided to switch his commitment from Florida State to USF.

Josh Newberg at Bulls247.com ($$ Link) was first with the news tonight, and this could not have come at a better time. The 6'4", 335 lb Hamilton fills a huge need for us at DT, and with his size and strength could come in and play from Day 1 here in Tampa. USF will have Elkino Watson and Cory Grissom entrenched as starters at tackle, but Hamilton will have a chance to battle Luke Sager, Demi Thompson, Todd Chandler, and Marquis White for a spot on the rotation.

I would try to do a scouting report on Hamilton, but the guys at Tomahawk Nation did a fantastic job breaking down Hamilton when he committed to Florida State this summer.

If you guys think the name Hamilton is familiar, James is the cousin of freshman LB Corian Hamilton, who played at Olympia and is currently redshirting in his first year at USF.

With recruiting rankings, Hamilton was rated as a 4-Star prospect by ESPN (24th best DT), and a 3-Star by 24/7, Rivals (29th best DT), and Scout (28th best OG).

Hamilton is USF's 12th verbal commitment this year, and the 1st at defensive tackle.

Welcome to USF James!
