B.J. Daniels Has Bruised AC Joint, Status For Friday Unkown

In his weekly press conference, Skip Holtz gave everyone a brief update on Junior QB B.J. Daniels' shoulder injury suffered against Miami this Saturday. From the initial tests, Skip is reporting that B.J. suffered a bruise in the AC joint in his right throwing shoulder.

The AC, or acromioclavicular joint is at the top of the shoulder where the acromion and clavicle meet. You've actually seen a rise in AC joint injuries over the past couple of years. Former USF QB Matt Grothe suffered an AC joint sprain just a series before he tore his ACL against Charleston Southern, and Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford also sprained his AC joint at the start of the 2009 season. While a sprain is definitely worse than a bruise, Bradford missed three games because of his injury.

While Skip hasn't ruled out B.J. for the game this Friday against Louisville, the staff has backup Bobby Eveld working with the first team this week to get him ready in case Daniels can not go. Holtz also said that true freshman Matt Floyd will be working with the 2nd team today in practice and as of this moment will be the backup to Eveld. When asked if he would burn Floyd's redshirt for the last two games of the season, Skip put it bluntly that if it meant the difference between a bowl bid and Matt's redshirt he would burn his redshirt every time.

We will keep you guys updated when we hear more information.
