Sterling Griffin Could Play Thursday, B.J. Daniels Still Questionable

While the Bulls secondary has a bunch of injury issues that need to be sorted out before Thursday night's game against West Virginia, the USF offense looks to be close to 100%.

Greg Auman spoke with WR Coach Phil McGeoghan yesterday and said that he expects sophomore WR Sterling Griffin to be ready to go against the Mountaineers. Griffin broke his ankle trying to catch a pass in the first half against Cincinnati five weeks ago and has been out ever since. Even with Griffin missing the last four games, Griffin still leads the team with 40 receptions and 493 receiving yards. While freshman Andre Davis has stepped in well for Griffin the last few games, Sterling is by far our best receiver and will give B.J. Daniels or Bobby Eveld another reliable target.

Speaking of Daniels, he is improving from his bruised AC joint he suffered against Miami that forced him to miss the Louisville game. Coach Holtz said at his press conference that Daniels was able to throw the ball around in practice for on Sunday, but the velocity is not where Holtz wants it to be for the game. If Daniels isn't able to go, Bobby Eveld will get the start in Daniels' place.

Auman has a video up from his interview from Daniels yesterday if you'd like to watch as well. Seems pretty optimistic that he can go but he's focused on getting his shoulder healthy.
