USF Basketball Mixology - Game 14, Connecticut

(DISCLAIMER: Enjoy responsibly. 21 means 21. Don't drink and drive.)

You guys must be freezing today. After spending most of December around 80 degrees, a cold front swept through the state yesterday and we had to deal with *GASP* a low of 47 degrees last night! How can we ever survive almost but not really freezing temperatures before our Big East opener against UConn?

Well, this will help you deal with Florida's "bone-chilling" weather. One of Connecticut's many nicknames is The Nutmeg State, and today's mixology not so coincidentally has nutmeg as one of the ingredients. Recipe via Good Eats.

Hot Toddy

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced, plus more for garnish
  • 1/2 cup Demerara (or raw) sugar
  • 1 quart water
  • 2 1/2 cups Scotch whiskey
  • Freshly grated nutmeg

Directions:

Combine the lemon, sugar, and water in a small, 2 to 3-quart slow cooker set to high. Cover and heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely, 20 to 30 minutes. Add the Scotch whiskey and stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low and serve warm with lemon slices and freshly grated nutmeg.
