Pearl River CC OL Chandlor Matthews-York Commits To USF Football

USF and Skip Holtz received their 2nd commitment of the week as Pearl River CC OL Chandlor Matthews-York gave a verbal pledge to the Bulls yesterday. The guys at Bulls247.com ($$ link) were the first to report the news of Matthews-York commitment. Matthews-York chose USF over offers from Pittsburgh, ECU, and Marshall.

Originally from St. Stanislas HS in Bay Saint Louis, MS, the 6'4", 285 lb Matthews-York was rated as a 3-star recruit by 247 and Rivals, and a 2-star recruit by Scout. ESPN did not give Chandlor a rating.

With the Bulls thin on experienced offensive lineman, Chandlor will have an opportunity to start next year. While USF returns tackles Mark Popek and Quinterrius Eatmon, where Matthews-York played at Pearl River, Chandlor could step in at guard and replace 3-year starter Jeremiah Warren. Matthews-York's main competition for the left guard spot would be Jr. John McGhin and Sr. Damien Edwards.

Greg Auman noted that Matthews-York will enroll in January, which is a big plus for a JUCO player. Chandlor will have spring practice and summer workouts to get acclimated to the team and learn Skip's offense.

Chandlor is the 12th commitment for this season and the second offensive lineman in the class joining McEachern HS OL Kofi Amichia. He will have two years of eligibility left when he arrives on campus.

We have a highlight video from Matthews-York's freshman year at PRCC after the jump.

Welcome to USF Chandlor!
