Best of the Bull-ogosphere: February 8-14

Lot that we didn't get to last week, lets look at what we missed:

- Great start for the softball team, who went 4-1 in the Wilson-DeMarini tournament over the weekend. The Bulls started off with victories over NC State, FGCU, Marshall, and Long Island before falling to Florida in the tournament championship game on Sunday. The LIU victory was a landmark win for the softball team, as it was the 1000th victory in program history. Greg Auman has a report on USF's class of talented freshman who are helping lead USF this year.

- Football season tickets are available if you haven't heard. If you aren't a current season ticket holder, here is the Seating Chart that USF passed out last week. $170 for 7 games without any sort of donation is a huge deal when we have teams like West Virginia, Louisville, and Miami among others.

- QB Coach Peter Vass was a candidate for the Boston College offensive coordinator vacancy, but College Football Talk has reported that former Minnesota Vikings QB Coach Kevin Rogers has filled the role. I'm happy that Vaas will be back for at least one more season.

- Our sister site Brotherly Game posted a short recap of USF's 2-0 friendly loss to the Philadelphia Union last week. Not a bad result all things considering they had a lot of their 1st team players out there. The Union were led by Sebastian Le Toux and Danny Mwanga who scored the goals for Philly.

- The UConn Blog posted our weekly Big East Power Rankings, and we're still comfortably in 15th place. Maybe a win or two this week will improve our standings.

- Men's Tennis lost their first match of the season Sunday, dropping a close 4-3 contest to FAU. It came down to the final set of the last match, but FAU's Marc Wakim beat USF's Juan Carlos Acuna Gerard 3-6 7-6 7-5. The men's tennis team will try to bounce back against Southern Miss and South Alabama later this week.

- Your USF related YouTube of the Week. Thought it was fitting with baseball starting this week.

- USF announcer and occasional V5 commenter Ronan O'Shea continues his interviews with this year's senior class, and this time he has Mistral Raymond and Jacob Sims. Check them out if you have the time.

- Any time I can get any news on the throw events for Track, I will post it no matter the news. USF gained a commitment from All-State thrower Justin Osking last week. He won the state title in the shot put last year with a throw of 55'-5". He also throws the discus 180'+ but fouled out at the district meet last year. The standard in high school for a good thrower is 50' in the shot and 150' in the discus, so we have a good one coming to Tampa next year.
