Chase Griffiths To Transfer From USF

Coach Skip Holtz has lost his second player this offseason, as reserve FB/LB Chase Griffiths has decided to transfer, which was first reported by Adam Adkins. The redshirt sophomore moved from linebacker to fullback last offseason, but after injuries limited Griffiths to one game this year, Armando Sanchez and walk-on Chris Breit moving ahead of him in the depth chart this spring, and Chase's desire to still play on defense, both Holtz and Griffiths agreed that transferring would be the best option for Chase.

Greg Auman spoke to Coach Holtz about Griffiths, and Holtz had this to say about him leaving,

"You feel like you lost one of your flock. Every young man you have, you want to put him in a role and give him a chance to be successful. We moved from linebacker to give him more of a role at the fullback position, which his heart just really isn't into, which I totally respect. He wants to play the linebacker position. I just don't see it happening here."

The Bulls are still extremely thin at FB, with only Sanchez Breit, and fellow walk-on Justin Wilcox as the only fullbacks on the roster.

Griffiths will have two years remaining of eligibility left if he transfers to another FBS school, or three years if he transfers to a FCS or DII school.

We wish you the best of luck Chase wherever you end up.
