Sara Nevins pitched another complete game shutout as the USF Bulls (32-16, 12-1) run-ruled the UConn Huskies (17-23, 5-8) 8-0 today at the USF Softball Stadium. Nevins moved up to 14-5 on the season with the win today and extended her scoreless streak to 41 innnigs. Nevins struck out 5 Huskies while only giving up 4 hits and 1 walk in her 5 innings of work.

The Bulls were fantastic at the plate as well today with Gina Kafalas (2-3, 2 R), Ashli Goff (2-4, 1 RBI, 1 R), Kourtney Salvarola (2-2, 2 RBI, 3 R), and Janine Richardson (2-4, 3 RBI) all having great days at bat. Kafalas in particular had a great series, going 5-8 over the weekend while scoring 6 runs. Another great thing today was seeing Stephanie Medina back in action today after leaving yesterday's nightcap due to a HBP in the first inning. Medina went 1-2 on the day with an RBI and a walk.

With the win today, USF controls its own destiny for the Big East Championship. The Bulls are tied for first in the lead with DePaul at 12-1 in conference play, and Notre Dame is right behind both at 9-1. The Bulls play both the Blue Demons and the Fighting Irish this week, starting with a doubleheader Wednesday against ND at home. The Bulls then head to Chicago for a huge three game series with DePaul to finish the regular season.

Hope to see you guys out there Wednesday.
