After a throwing a complete game 4-hitter, earning a win in relief, and saving her 8th game of the season, Freshman LHP Sara Nevins was named Big East Pitcher of the Week yesterday. This is the 2nd Big East PotW award for Nevins, with her first coming after she threw a 1-hitter against Syracuse. For the weekend, Nevins threw 11.1 innings while only giving up 7 hits and no runs.
Junior OF Gina Kafalas was also rewarded for her strong week, as she was named to the Big East Honor Roll. In the weekend sweep of UConn, Kafalas was near perfect at the leadoff role with an OBP of .700, an OPS 1.325, and scoring 6 runs in the 3 games. Just a tremendous performance from the Tampa native.
The team itself is starting to earn more national attention, with Coach Eriksen's club moving up to 27th in this week's Ultimate College Softball poll. Winning both series this week would almost certainly put the Bulls in the Top 25.
The Bulls have a huge double-header with #21 Notre Dame tomorrow starting at 11 AM. Toro will be in attendance, and we hope you will be too. If you can't make it, both games will be shown live on BHSN.
