As we found out last year, whenever a new coaching staff takes over at a school there will be some sort of player attrition. Whether its changing an offensive style or someone just looking for a new start, there are always a few players who want transfer.
With the Will Muschamp era now starting at Florida, it looks like USF might be the recipient of a few transfers this year. We talked about WR Chris Dunkley leaning towards USF briefly in a Bull-ogosphere post, but Dunkley had to wait until his final grades from the spring semester in order to be eligible to transfer. Greg Auman talked to Pahokee HS Head Coach Blaze Thompson, and it looks like Dunkley has the grades necessary to transfer to USF.
Pahokee's Blaze Thompson on Florida WR Chris Dunkley: "Honestly, I believe it's going to happen with USF." WVa, Marshall, Cincy have called.
The former 5-star recruit redshirted his freshman year at Florida after a persistent hamstring injury kept him from competing this season. The 5'11 WR will bolster an already strong young group of receivers at USF with Terrance Mitchell, Deonte Welch, Alex Mut, Andre Davis, and Ruben Gonzalez. Dunkley would have 3 years left of eligibility after sitting out this season.
Mike Blakely enrolled early at Florida this spring, and after spending a spring in Charlie Weis' pro-style offense, the 5'9" RB wanted to go back to something closer to the spread. Greg Auman got a hold of Blakely's HS Coach Joe Kinnan, and Blakely has been released to USF and is considering the Bulls. Blakely would have four years of eligibility if he came to USF, and according to Auman would only have to compete with Dontae Aycock, Darrell Scott, and Demetris Murray for only one season before taking over the reigns at RB in 2013.
After the break, we have high school highlights of both players. It would be great to have both players. Dunkley will be first followed by Blakely.
