Lost in the Chris Dunkley news this weekend was that Coach Skip Holtz received the verbal pledge of Stephenson (GA) HS TE Joshua Parris. Parris chose USF over schools like Boston College, Ole Miss, Syracuse, and Louisville among others.
Parris is part of an extremely loaded Stephenson High team which could have at least a dozen players sign FBS scholarships this season. This is the 2nd year in a row that a Stephenson HS player has committed to USF with incoming freshman RB Willie Davis signing with the Bulls last year. Coach Holtz might not be done at SHS, with Greg Auman from the St. Pete Times reporting that USF in the running for 4-Star Stephenson HS players LB Raphael Kirby and DE Jarontay Jones.
Auman talked to Parris about why he chose USF, and the use of the TE/H-Back position was something he liked,
"I have family in Florida, I like the weather, and the offense they run is something else I like."
Tight End was a need position for Holtz this class, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see another TE before its all said and done.
Parris is the 5th commitment for the 2012 class and the first offensive player. After the break we have a highlight video of Parris' junior year at nearby Shiloh High School.
Welcome to USF Joshua!
