After playing the first of a two-game series this year, the St. Petersburg Times's Greg Auman is reporting that USF has agreed to indefinitely postpone the game in Gainesville against the Florida Gators that is currently scheduled for 2015. With USF and the rest of the Big East unsure about how many football members the conference will have (and by extension, how many conference games there will be), it makes sense to reschedule some non-conference games to make sure that there won't be any last-minute problems.
Along with Florida, USF is scheduled to go on the road in 2015 to face Indiana. The ability to only reschedule a payday game that was originally set for 2009 made sense, especially after Indiana was nice enough to move a game so the Bulls could setup the home game against Florida State in 2012.
I do think this game will get rescheduled once everything gets settled within the conference (certainly USF isn't trying to avoid playing the Gators -- that would be incredibly dumb). But don't expect anything concrete for the next few years.
