Florida RB Mike Blakely Will Not Attend USF, Transfers To Auburn

After two visits to USF in a week, it seemed likely that Florida RB Mike Blakely would follow Chris Dunkley to Tampa and transfer to the Bulls. However, Greg Auman of the St. Pete Times is reporting that Blakely has already enrolled in an out of state school and will not attend USF.

Auman reached out to Manatee HS Head Coach Joe Kinnan who said that everything happened extremely fast, but wouldn't name which school Mike had enrolled. Blakely was reportedly set on going to Southern Cal this weekend on an official visit.

From the looks of everything on Twitter, it seems that Blakely's final destination will be Auburn. Auburn was Blakely's second choice before he enrolled at Florida in January. It will be interesting how everything plays out, as new Florida HC Will Muschamp did not release Blakely to Auburn or any other SEC school. If everything stands the way it is, Blakely would have to pay his own way this year before joining on scholarship in 2012.

Update: Josh Newberg of Noles247.com just reported that Blakely has indeed transferred to Auburn, and Florida allowed a release to the Tigers so he could be put on scholarship this season. He will only sit out for the 2011 year before becoming eligibile in 2012.

Head over to our Auburn site Track Em Tigers and our UF site Alligator Army for more on this as the story evolves.
