Stampeding Through The Roster: #99 K Marvin Kloss

There are certain days that let you know that football will be on its way soon. Phil Steele's magazine being released. The first time each summer a Georgia football player gets arrested in Athens for some phantom moving violation on a scooter. And the news that there are only 99 days left before the season opener.

So with 99 days and 99 numbers on the roster, each day from now until September 3, we will highlight each player (or players) fro 99 to 1. We'll cover their accomplishments so far at USF, and what to expect from them this year. First up:

#99 K Marvin Kloss

Redshirt Freshman, 6'0" 191 lb

Stats in 2010: None. He redshirted last season while behind Maikon Bonani and Eric Schwartz.

Current Spot on Depth Chart: Kloss is second on the post-spring depth chart behind Bonani.

How did he come to USF: Kloss was invited to USF as a preferred walk-on, and accepted over a scholarship offer from Purdue and preferred walk-on status from UF. You might remember Kloss' arrest on grand theft charges in May 2010, while he was still at Naples' Barron Collier High School. However, Kloss was able to get the charges reduced to petty theft and entered a misdemeanor intervention program. Ultimately the charges were dropped.

Recruiting Rankings: Kloss was a three-star prospect  out of Barron Collier and was tabbed as the 7th best kicker in the nation for the class of 2010.

Projected Playing Time for 2011: Unless Bonani is hurt or gets a case of the yips, Kloss won't see much action in 2011. He might have an outside shot at handling kickoffs (Bonani only had six touchbacks on 48 kickoffs in 2010), but only expect to see him once the game is out of hand.
