Stampeding Through The Roster: #77 OT Jake Kaufman

After meeting our smallest player in Derrick Hopkins 10 days ago, its time to meet the biggest man on our roster.

#77 OT Jake Kaufman

Redshirt Freshman, 6'9", 354 lbs.

Stats in 2010: Dealt with back problems during his first season at USF and was redshirted.

Current Spot On Depth Chart: Jake was held out of spring practice with the same back issues and was therefore not listed on the post-spring two deep.

How He Got To USF: Jake signed with USF out of high school where he excelled at St. Peters Prep in Jersey City, NJ.

Recruiting Ranks: Kaufman was given a 3-Star rating from both Rivals and Scout. Rivals listed Jake as the 69th best OT in the class of 2010, while Scout listed Kaufman as the 46th best OT. Kaufman selected USF over offers from Rutgers, Wisconsin, Stanford, and Georgia.

Projected Playing Time in 2011: I don't expect much from Kaufman this season. The time off in the spring and summer might be what Jake needs to recover, but a back injury is the worst thing that a guy Jake's size could have. If Kaufman is able to recover and provide anything of quality to the team, I'll consider it a bonus.
