Stampeding Through The Roster: #76 OL Nathan Marvel

We hope that you are having a great Father's Day today. Today's entry is a walk-on who is going through an interesting transition.

#76 Nathan Marvel

Freshman, 6'3", 236 lbs.

Stats in 2010: Hung out in the stands at Raymond James while trying to go above and beyond the Freshman 15

Current Spot On Depth Chart: Not listed in the post spring two-deep at any of the five offensive lineman position.

How He Got To USF: Nathan earned a spot on the spring roster during open tryouts

Recruiting Ranks: Marvel wasn't highly recruited out of powerhouse Plant High School in Tampa. While Nathan is trying to earn a spot on the roster as an offensive lineman, Marvel was a WR in high school. Nathan did well for the Panthers during their championship run his senior season, catching 18 balls for 406 yards and 8 touchdowns, including a 78-yard touchdown in the championship game against Tallahassee Lincoln.

Rivals and Scout didn't have anything on Marvel recruiting wise, but ESPN listed him as a sleeper WR prospect, and even graded him out as the 98th best WR prospect in the country. Surprised he wasn't given more of a look from some smaller schools.

Projected Playing Time in 2011: With a ton of offensive line prospects coming in the summer and fall, don't expect Marvel to make it to fall camp. Wouldn't be surprised if we see him again in the spring.
