#73 OT Damien Edwards

Redshirt Junior, 6'5", 321 lbs.

Stats in 2010: Edwards played in the first three games of the year against FAU, Florida, and Stony Brook as a reserve offensive tackle.

Current Spot On Depth Chart: Damien is currently listed as the backup right tackle on the post-spring depth chart behind Quinterrius Eatmon.

How He Got To USF: Edwards came to USF from Chander High School in Chandler, Arizona. USF was his only FBS offer, and the only other school to offer him at all was Northern Arizona* of FCS. He does have family ties in Tampa, with his father Earl having played at Tampa's Blake High School before starring at Wichita State and playing in the NFL from 1969-79.

Recruiting Ranks: Damien was lightly recruited out of Chandler, with USF only offering a week after Signing Day in 2008. Edwards was not graded or even given a recruiting profile from Rivals, while Scout gave Damien a two-star rating.

Projected Playing Time in 2011: Edwards was given the first shot at replacing Jacob Sims at right tackle when spring practice began, but Eatmon leapfrogged Edwards midway through spring practice. Edwards will be used as a backup to spell Quinterrius, and will also see time on special teams.
