72 days until the USF season opener against Notre Dame. Let's introduce someone who will be looked upon to provide depth and will be ready to compete for a starting job in 2012.
#72 OG Steven Jacques
Redshirt Sophomore, 6'2", 300 lbs.
Stats in 2010: Jacques was used sparingly as a reserve last season, playing against FAU and Stony Brook
Current Spot On Depth Chart: Steven is not listed on the two-deep at either guard position.
How He Got To USF: Steven came to USF via South Broward High School in Hollyood, FL. Jacques orginally committed to Auburn early in the recruiting process. After Tommy Tuberville's dismissal at Auburn, Jacques switched his commitment to USF in early January. Other than Auburn, Jacques also had offers from West Virginia and South Carolina.
Recruiting Ranks: Jacques was rated a 3-Star recruit by both Rivals and Scout. Steven was listed as the 54th best guard prospect according to Rivals, while Scout listed Jacques as the 52nd rated guard prospect in the Class of 2008.
Projected Playing Time in 2011: Jacques will still be used as a reserve this season, with seniors Chaz Hine and Jeremiah Warren entrenched as starters. Jacques will compete with John McGhin and Danous Estenor for a starting position for the 2012 season.
